Job Description

The role within the firm.

The Associate manages routine legal assignments and matters with appropriate independence. The role performs research, drafting, client communication, negotiation, litigation, transactional, or administrative work within an assigned practice and seeks review when risk or complexity requires escalation.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage assigned routine matters, tasks, and deadlines
  • Conduct legal research and prepare professional legal documents
  • Communicate directly and professionally with clients
  • Maintain accurate matter, billing, and status records
  • Identify risk and request supervisory review when appropriate
  • Accept accountability for the quality and timeliness of assigned legal work

Required Qualifications

  • Current active BAR license and good standing
  • Ability to independently manage routine legal matters
  • Strong legal research and document-drafting ability
  • Ability to communicate professionally with clients
  • Sound judgment and ability to recognize when escalation is required
  • Ability to meet deadlines and comply with firm procedures
  • Accountability for assigned legal work

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience handling matters with limited supervision
  • Experience in one or more K&S practice areas
  • Courtroom, negotiation, contract, or dispute-resolution experience
  • Strong client-management skills
  • Experience preparing motions, agreements, or substantive legal correspondence
  • Ability to assist with the development of Junior Associates or Paralegals

Training is available for new employees, and the firm supports continued professional development. Employees may receive education and preparation support toward future BAR Exam goals. BAR preparation support does not guarantee eligibility, passage, licensure, promotion, or appointment to an attorney position. An active BAR license is required before appointment or promotion to any attorney role.

The firm offers opportunities for professional growth, increased responsibility, and promotion based on demonstrated performance, readiness, firm needs, and available positions. Advancement is not automatic or guaranteed.

This position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses. Bonus eligibility and payment are discretionary and are not guaranteed.
