Job Description

The role within the firm.

The Junior Associate performs foundational legal research, drafting, client communication, and assigned practice work under attorney supervision. The role is designed for active BAR license holders developing judgment, practical skills, and familiarity with firm procedures.

Core Responsibilities

  • Complete assigned legal research, drafting, and client-service tasks
  • Manage assigned deadlines and communications under supervision
  • Prepare motions, contracts, correspondence, memoranda, or case materials as assigned
  • Incorporate review, instruction, and constructive feedback
  • Maintain confidentiality, accurate records, and conflict awareness
  • Recognize issues requiring prompt supervisory guidance

Required Qualifications

  • Current active BAR license and good standing
  • Foundational legal research and drafting ability
  • Professional written and verbal communication
  • Ability to work under supervision and incorporate feedback
  • Ability to manage assigned deadlines and responsibilities
  • Sound judgment regarding confidentiality and conflicts
  • Willingness to complete firm training and follow procedures

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior legal internship, clerkship, courtroom, or transactional experience
  • Familiarity with one or more K&S practice areas
  • Experience drafting motions, contracts, correspondence, or legal memoranda
  • Strong advocacy, negotiation, or client-interviewing skills
  • Demonstrated interest in professional development
  • Experience with legal case-management or document systems

Training is available for new employees, and the firm supports continued professional development. Employees may receive education and preparation support toward future BAR Exam goals. BAR preparation support does not guarantee eligibility, passage, licensure, promotion, or appointment to an attorney position. An active BAR license is required before appointment or promotion to any attorney role.

The firm offers opportunities for professional growth, increased responsibility, and promotion based on demonstrated performance, readiness, firm needs, and available positions. Advancement is not automatic or guaranteed.

This position may be eligible for performance-based bonuses. Bonus eligibility and payment are discretionary and are not guaranteed.
